A short documentary following Lin Tyrpien, founder of Lyle Gallery, through the making of ONNI. Through interviews with Isabel Sullivan and behind-the-scenes footage of the installation, the film becomes a portrait of what it looks like when a new generation of queer, women-led galleries decide to do things differently.
This short documentary follows Lyle Gallery founder Lin Tyrpien to Marfa, Texas, during Chinati Weekend, when the remote desert town becomes an unexpected hub for the art community. Blending travelogue with cultural portraiture, the film depicts Lin visiting her friend and furniture designer Jøna Maaryn, who is launching a new exhibition that weekend. It explores border politics, artists who create lives far from major art centers, and the appeal of making art in secluded locations. Narrated from Lin’s perspective as a New York gallerist suddenly immersed in an unfamiliar creative landscape.
