Dënalisa Shijaku

Dënalisa Shijaku is a Berlin-based artist with Albanian roots whose work explores identity and harmony. A refugee to Germany in 1993, her practice is shaped by the melancholic yet hopeful music of her Albanian heritage, inspiring her vibrant color palette and intuitive style. She works primarily with acrylic on natural canvas, using layered techniques to create dreamlike pieces. Her multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, video installation, and photography, often addressing themes like displacement, cultural memory, and women’s roles in patriarchal societies. Through her art, Dënalisa invites viewers into a surreal world that connects personal stories with universal experiences.
