Salvaged Wood (Mahogany, Walnut, and Maple)
13 x 12 x 12 ″

"This STACKED Vessel is crafted from salvaged woods, each with its own unique coloration and grain. Its gently shaped form and honed surface invite touch and connection. The distinct yet seamlessly joined wood species symbolize diverse roots coming together—an embodiment of unity. The natural tones and patterns reflect the idea that home is not a place of uniformity, but a space where all things, in their imperfections, belong."

Richard is a Brooklyn-based artist, sculptor, and studio furniture maker whose practice bridges sustainable design and fine craft. Working exclusively with salvaged wood gathered from around New York City, he transforms discarded materials into functional and decorative works that honor the histories embedded within them. His meticulous process—layering, shaping, and hand-finishing each piece—reveals mineral stains, knots, and nail holes as marks of time rather than flaws. Influenced by Classical Antiquity, East Asian design, and European craftsmanship, Richard reimagines so-called waste into enduring forms that challenge conventional ideas of value and beauty.
