"I’ve always been intrigued by the intricacy and beauty of snuff bottles, seeing them as a visual emblem of my Chinese and British heritage. In 2020, I began creating large-scale, snuff bottle-inspired sculptures, often anthropomorphized with arms, legs, and eyes. This piece is inspired by foxes, which I repeatedly spotted across London while developing the work. A small foxglove at the back references an old English myth where foxes wore the bell-shaped blooms as gloves to silently sneak up on prey. The fox at the front is loosely inspired by Chinese folklore, where fox spirits often appear in bestiaries."
